Preaching about Finding Enough for the Journey

Shannon was invited to preach at Princeton University Chapel as part of their Summer Series. She preached on 1 Kings 19:4-8 about needing care when the journey (of making the world better) is too much.

Speaking on Pregnancy Shaming in Religion and Culture

Shannon was a panelist alongside Rev. Brandee Jamine Mimitzraiem and Rev. Dr. Cari Jackson, moderated by Rev. Katey Zeh, in this webinar in the series of the Religious Coalition for Reproduction Choice's Learning Center Winter Webinar. She spoke of her own experience around shame in infertility and pregnancy loss.

“Pregnancy shaming. It was done to Mary, the mother of Jesus, in the ancient biblical story. It is done today to countless individuals when they are pregnant and unmarried, have difficulty getting pregnant or carrying a pregnancy to full-term, choose not to have children, or choose to become pregnant of parent in ways that do not comply with prescribed religious or cultural expectations.”
